Membership benefits and services include:

  • Annual Conference: The annual conference offers workshops seminars on programming, collection development, fund raising, staff and volunteer development, and more. The annual GAM conference provides opportunities for peers to share their work, participate in productive dialogue, and improve professional practices. Held in a different Georgia city each year, the conference features tours, activities, and evening events for GAM members to socialize and network with their peers.
  • Awards Luncheon: Held during the annual conference, the GAM Awards program recognizes outstanding achievements of people and organizations that make up the museum community across Georgia. GAM members are eligible to submit nominations to the GAM Awards Committee for consideration.
  • The Museum Services Exchange (MUSE): MUSE is a program of consulting services provided by and for GAM members. Museums can apply for a MUSE consultation in relation to an area of need. These needs can range from developing organizational structure to collection management, from exhibit design to labeling to educational outreach, from membership concerns to financial resources development.
  • Newsletter: A quarterly publication that informs members of current issues, program ideas, and grant deadlines. GAM programs are featured as are recent actions taken by the GAM executive board.
  • Intern Program: GAM encourages young people to enter the museum profession by matching college interns with participating state wide museums.
  • Staff/Student Conference Scholarships: Opportunities for the Annual Conference
  • Educational Programs: GAM offers year-round educational programs and workshops that are available to GAM members for free or at reduced rates.
